Job description

This position is based in Bucharest.

We are looking for a senior Senior Cloud Platform Engineer.

We offer a full-time position.

Additional information

Senior Cloud Platform Engineer Location Qualifications: Bucharest (hybrid, 2xweek in office) Position Overview: We are looking for a Senior Cloud Platform Engineer to help design, build, and operate a reliable, scalable, and secure cloud platform that supports multiple product teams. This role is focused on cloud infrastructure, automation, and operations—not data engineering. You will work on the foundation that enables engineering teams to ship safely and efficiently at scale. What you’ll be doing - Build for Scale: Architect and engineer robust, cost-efficient, and high-performing cloud infrastructure and platform services on AWS. - Enable Reliable Systems: Design and optimize platform components that connect services, support production workloads, and enable teams to operate safely at scale. - Automate Everything: Use Infrastructure as Code (AWS CDK) to automate provisioning and manage cloud resources seamlessly. - Stay Ahead of the Curve: Set up best-in-class monitoring, alerting, and logging. Spot issues before they impact users—and fix them fast. - Think Big: Help shape our cloud and platform strategy and bring new ideas to life. You’re not just running infrastructure—you’re evolving the platform. - Be the Guardian of the Platform: Champion best practices in cloud security, access control, compliance, and reliability. - Document Like a Pro: Create clear, practical platform documentation that engineers actually want to use. - Lead & Collaborate: Take technical ownership of initiatives. Work closely with Product and Engineering teams to support production systems. - Mentor & Grow: Share your knowledge, coding standards, and operational best practices. Raise the bar—and help others grow with you. Experience That Stands Out - Cloud Services: Strong hands-on experience with AWS (e.g. EC2, ECS/Fargate, Lambda, S3, IAM, VPC, Step Functions, CloudWatch). - IaC Mastery: Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code, ideally AWS CDK (bonus if you’re fluent in TypeScript). - Coding Power: Comfortable writing production-quality code in TypeScript and/or Python for automation and tooling. - Cloud Operations Know-How: Experience operating cloud infrastructure at scale, including reliability, performance, and cost optimization. - DevOps / Software Craft: Solid understanding of Git, CI/CD pipelines, testing, and modern engineering practices. - Containers: Hands-on experience with Docker and container platforms such as Kubernetes, ECS, or Fargate. Mindset That Moves Us - Problem Solver: Analytical, pragmatic, and eager to tackle complex infrastructure and operational challenges. - Clear Communicator: Able to explain technical concepts clearly—to engineers and non-technical stakeholders alike. - Ownership Mentality: You take responsibility, follow through, and care deeply about production systems. - Team Multiplier: You collaborate, share knowledge, and raise the bar for those around you. Bonus Points - Experience supporting data platforms and workloads from a DataOps / operational perspective (reliability, availability, access, cost). - Familiarity with AWS data services (e.g. S3, Glue, Redshift, Athena) in production environments. - Experience operating or supporting streaming platforms such as Kafka, AWS Kinesis, or Debezium, with a focus on operations and reliability. - Exposure to observability, security, or cost optimization for data-intensive systems. What you can expect from Showpad We welcome every voice and are committed to building a truly inclusive environment where your differences are not just welcomed, they are celebrated. We’re building a best-in-class experience for our employees and are always identifying opportunities to encourage our team to be their authentic selves. Whether that’s paid parental leave, paid holidays (including Juneteenth and paid time off to vote), paid time off to volunteer at non-profit organisations, personal development opportunities or professional stretch assignments, you can expect Showpad to support you. Showpad’s Commitment We are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive organisation and are proud to be an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, pregnancy, disability, age, veteran status, or other dimensions of identity. #LI-CP1 #LI-hybrid

Pre-apply checklist

Quickly verify the listing has the essentials so you can compare offers fairly.

  • Is the salary gross or net, and what period is it for?
  • Is it employee (CIM) or contractor (B2B/PFA/SRL)?
  • What does “remote/hybrid” mean in practice (office days, overlap)?
  • Is the scope and seniority level clear?

Flag missing or inconsistent details so the listing stays accurate.

How to evaluate this job (beyond the title)

A strong application is not just “I know the stack”. It’s proof you can deliver outcomes in this specific context: team setup, constraints, seniority expectations, and the way success is measured. Use this checklist to decide whether to apply and what to highlight.

Clarify scope and expectations

Many ads are intentionally broad. Your job is to identify the core responsibilities and whether they match your strengths today.

  • Look for ownership signals: “design”, “architecture”, “lead”, “on-call”, “mentoring”.
  • Check if the role is feature delivery vs platform/infra vs maintenance.
  • If the description is short, use company size + industry + stack to infer the likely day-to-day.

Validate work setup and collaboration

Remote/hybrid/office labels are not enough. The real constraints are overlap hours, office days, and communication style.

  • Confirm whether “remote” is worldwide/EU/Romania-only and whether overlap hours are required.
  • For hybrid roles, ask how many days per week and whether they are fixed or flexible.
  • Check language requirements and cross-team dependencies (product, design, stakeholders).

Compare compensation realistically

To compare two offers, normalize everything to the same baseline and contract type. If salary is undisclosed, build a range based on market and validate early.

  • Normalize gross vs net and month vs year before you compare.
  • For B2B, account for taxes, accounting, unpaid time off, and risk.
  • Use market data as a sanity check, then negotiate with evidence (impact, scope, seniority).
