Platform Software Engineer (DevEx & Cloud Enablement Team) We are seeking a Full-Stack Platform Engineer with strong TypeScript experience (Node.js backend and React frontend) to design, build, and maintain Backstage.io modules and plugins that enhance developer experience across the organization. You will work within the Backstage framework to develop end-to-end features -from intuitive React-based UIs to robust backend services and integrations- enabling engineering teams to efficiently onboard, discover, and operate services on the cloud platform while adhering to governance and security standards. What you’ll have to do: - Design, develop, and maintain full-stack Backstage features (plugins and integrations) using TypeScript -React for frontend components and Node.js for backend services- aligned with product needs and developer experience goals; - Build intuitive, reusable React components and plugin UIs following Backstage's design system, our internal design systems, and Material-UI, ensuring consistent developer portal experience; - Own and evolve the Software Catalog, including entity models, ingestion, metadata quality, standards, frontend entity pages, and integrations with internal systems; - Build and maintain REST APIs for Backstage backend plugins and supporting services (OpenAPI, authentication, authorization); - Create and evolve Scaffolder templates and actions (“golden paths”) to standardize onboarding and service creation workflows; - Design, model, and optimize PostgreSQL data structures used by platform services (schema design, indexing, performance tuning); - Implement and enforce access control and governance across portal capabilities (authentication, authorization, permissions, secure defaults); - Contribute to cloud-native deployment and runtime patterns (containers, environments, service-to-service communication); - Work in a product-oriented, collaborative environment: planning, code reviews, iterative delivery, and stakeholder feedback; - Document platform architecture, plugin boundaries (frontend/backend), and operational usage to support self-service and adoption. What makes you a good fit: - Strong proficiency in TypeScript across the stack: React for frontend development and Node.js for backend services; - Experience building modern React applications with hooks, context, and component-based architecture; - Solid experience with PostgreSQL, including schema design and performance tuning; - Experience building and consuming REST APIs (OpenAPI, authentication, authorization); - Familiarity with Backstage architecture, or strong motivation to learn it quickly; - Experience with Git, code reviews, and CI/CD pipelines; - Good understanding of cloud-native concepts; - Ability to work autonomously in a product-focused, collaborative environment.
